Get ready for a thrilling addition to the EF Education-EasyPost team! The American powerhouse, Luke Lamperti, is joining our classics squad, and we couldn't be more excited.
At just 22 years old, Lamperti brings a unique blend of speed and toughness to the team. With six wins already under his belt, including a stage victory at the Czech Tour, he's ready to take on the world's toughest races.
"I'm thrilled to join EF Education-EasyPost," Luke shares. "It feels like coming home. As an American rider, it's an incredible opportunity to represent my country on the WorldTour stage."
But here's where it gets interesting... Luke's journey to cycling is quite unique. He started racing motocross bikes as a kid, using cycling to build strength for his dirt bike adventures. Little did he know, those rides on his home roads would lead him to a whole new world of freedom and excitement.
"The riding in Sonoma County is simply amazing," Luke reminisces. "I fell in love with the feeling of being out there, pushing myself to be better. It all happened so fast, and now here I am."
Luke's motocross skills and determination propelled him to the front of the pack in some of the USA's most competitive youth races. He soon found himself racing in Europe with the American national team, and his impressive results earned him a spot on Trinity Racing, where he crossed paths with some of his future EF Education-EasyPost teammates.
"That's when I committed to living like a pro," Luke recalls. "It was a smooth transition, and I felt comfortable from the start. I'm grateful for the last two years and the experiences I've had."
Now, Luke is ready to take his career to the next level with EF Education-EasyPost. He's a versatile rider, capable of delivering results in various terrains, from spring classics to summer stage races. Our founder and CEO, Jonathan Vaughters, has high praise for Luke:
"Luke is an exceptional sprinter and classics rider. He's a natural leader, even at such a young age. His ability to read race tactics and lead a group is impressive. We'll be relying on him in the cobbled races and using his sprinting skills to our advantage. I believe he'll be a great mentor for our U23 sprinter, Noah Hobbs, and I can see him winning races like Gent Wevelgem or even Milano-Sanremo."
Luke shares Vaughters' vision for his future:
"I consider myself a sprinter, but not a pure one. I excel in punchy sprints and the classics, especially when the field is smaller. Races like Sanremo are right up my alley, and I'd love to focus more on grand tour stages in the future."
But it's the classics that truly ignite Luke's passion. He thrives on the excitement and challenges of racing on windswept cobbles, and he can't wait to tackle Belgium's bergs with our classics squad, alongside fellow Americans Neilson Powless and Colby Simmons.
"The classics are my favorite," he confesses. "From start to finish, it's a day of pure excitement. The fans and cycling culture in Belgium are incredible, and I'm looking forward to experiencing it all."
Luke knows that achieving his dreams requires a focus on the process. With EF Education-EasyPost, he's confident he'll have the support he needs to compete with the best in the world.
"I want to perform at the highest level and continue pushing myself to reach the biggest races. Joining EF Education-EasyPost is a significant step in that direction."
Welcome to the team, Luke! We're excited to see what the future holds for you.
